Rodgers Finds a Home

Travis Rodgers

By Craig Robbins

August 14, 2013 (Inglewood, CA) — After winning the 2012 LCFL West rookie of the year award with the Southern California Steelers, quarterback Travis Rodgers is on the move — and will now be a Blackhawk. Rodgers was a key component in the Steelers’ offense, and the move has been perceived as strikingly bizarre.

With the emergence of former UNLV running rebel Les Obie, and surprisingly losing a stellar QB battle in camp, Rodgers became very unhappy with the direction the team was headed in. The Steelers seemed to have a very formidable QB corp, an element which is very rare in minor league football.

The Blackhawks suddenly acquire a pure pocket-passer and oddly a bit of an upgrade, from a passing standpoint, should Rodgers have to be inserted into a game and relieve current starting quarterback Brandon Brooks. Look for the Blackhawks passing game to get back to its old form with the addition of Rodgers.
